Ten Reasons to Love Palestinian Arabs
by Diane V. McLoughlin; 12/02/08
I'm a news junkie. I would read every paper in the world every day, if I could. Instead, I pop in to different on-line publications as I can. Today I checked out one of the biggest, The Sun, U.K. edition.
I discovered they have a huge discussion community, way bigger than any I have come across so far. I was curious. What do registered users at the Sun have to say? I was shaken to find that what some had to say was racist.
The following is the essay I wrote on the spot responding to the baited question, give me ten reasons to love Palestinian Arabs.
1. They are our neighbor; they are suffering human beings;
2. They are oppressed;
3. Israel is a democracy in the same way that Apartheid South Africa was a democracy. Israel is for Jews. Apartheid South Africa was for whites.
4. The Deep South in the U.S. had whites-only public water taps. Israel has Jews-only roads. A Berlin Wall.
5. According to the U.N. office responsible, Israel allows in 41%* of the food in calories necessary to keep Gaza from starvation.
6. When food is scarce what happens to the price of food? The price, in a perverse twist designed to make the Devil himself chortle with glee --- goes up.
For example, flour has doubled in price. Food purchases of meat? Down 98%. Dairy? Which, I might remind the reader is absolutely essential for the proper formation of bones and teeth in children - down 86%.
7. Israel bombed out a critical power plant in Gaza. Israel allows in only half the fuel necessary to run Gaza's wells, pumping stations and sewage treatment facilities.
8. Reason 7 constitutes biological warfare, as was used by Britain and the U.S. against Iraq - to whit 500,000 children died from water-borne preventable disease.
9. Palestinians are a sensitive, intelligent and generous people. Visit any Palestinian and no matter how modest the circumstances, the kitchen is turned inside out because they are happy to see you.
10. Last reason to love Palestinian Arabs is that they continue to hold out the prospect of peace and brotherhood with Israel. Too bad Israel continues the path of ethnic cleansing, instead.
Those are my top-ten reasons to love Palestinian Arabs. With little notice I could come up with a hundred reasons why I love Palestinian Arabs.
And just so there is no confusion, I could come up with plenty of reasons why I love Jews, too. I have no problem with Jews.
Jewish notables have contributed invaluably to the condition of mankind. Most, if not all, races and religions somehow, sometime, have. It's the Zionism-ethnic cleansing I have a problem with.
It's the Zionist dumping of chamber pot contents on the heads of Palestinians passing by. The attacking of the innocent little Palestinian children trying to go to school; I have a problem with that. Who's going to love them!, and protect them when the Israeli Offensive Forces batter down the door in the night to take their father away? There's my question to you.
Am I finished? No, I don't think I'm finished. I find your snide and sarcastic question offensive in the first instance.
If this is representative of the state of respect in Great Britain today then you've got big problems. Considering your foreign policy in recent years, yearning for the good ol' days of empire, living vicariously in the shadow of the new bully on the block, it's no wonder you fear what the Asian neighbor down the street thinks of it all. Best be proactive on the domestic front. Get them first.
