No Tax Dollars to Support Israel's Military Occupation
12/03/08 - by Diane V. McLoughlin
I oppose all Foreign Military Financing (FMF) for Israel.
Israel uses weapons purchased through FMF to enforce its illegal 40-year
military occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. American
munitions are an integral component of Israel's on-going military siege of
Gaza, as well.
In addition, Israel uses charitable funds raised by Americans to fund the
military campaign against Palestinians. Such uses of charitable funds
should be outlawed, as they are for other peoples, organizations or
countries.
Further, Israel recruits citizens from countries around the world to enlist in
the Israeli Defense Forces. These volunteer conscripts carry arms in
support of the occupation, military siege, and ethnic cleansing of the
Palestinians. American citizens should be barred from participating in such
illegal, immoral activities. Any American proved guilty of such activities
should have their American citizenship revoked.
At minimum, the Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related
Programs must reject the President's FY2009 budget request for $2.55
billion in FMF for Israel because Israel is in clear violation of U.S. law .
As long as Israel continues to violate U.S. law, the United States must cut off
all aid that could be used to support the occupation, the siege of Gaza, the
illegal settlements, or the continued ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from
East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Israel.
