Comment Number 77 to New York Times' editorial War over Gaza

Diane V. McLoughlin  December 29, 2008

For sixteen months now Israel has maintained a total and complete military siege on the 1.5
million civilians of Gaza. For many years prior Israel occupied Gaza, guns to the heads of
Gaza's citizens while enforcing the will of Jewish Zionist settler fanatics.

Guns on the inside, or guns on the outside pointing in - the effect is exactly the same. And it
seems that the quieter things became as Hamas demonstrated a political will to come to the
table, the more Israel's leaders became worried they might actually have to make a deal -
which, of course, they have absolutely no intention of doing. Rather, too many of Israel’s
leadership espouse a unique Lebensraum program harkening back to the darkest days of
Nazi Germany - that Israel 'needs' to take Palestinian land for Israel's 'security'.

Half of Gaza's citizens are children. Families are reported now to be scavenging, not for
garbage scraps with which to feed their children - that too, is apparently running out. No,
what some are now turning to is a bit more modest than that - families are resorting to
feeding their children grass.

Psychological assessments find that too many of Gaza's children are literally losing the will
to live.

Now. This pogrom instigated by Israel against the Palestinian People, Israel's Semitic
brothers and sisters, is a sin and a hypocrisy from which Israel will never recover.

I call upon the leadership of America to cut Israel off of the annual billions of dollars in
military and financial aid at once, until Israel immediately ceases this slaughter of Gaza;
ends the military siege of Gaza as well as the occupation of the West Bank and withdraws to
pre-1967 borders; and accepts that Jerusalem is to be shared ~or~ alternatively Israel
chooses to quit these Israel-created Ghettos of the Palestinians and offers them full Israeli
citizenship with equal rights in one bi-national country. I repeat: America must stop financing
this madness.
