           IMPEACH

I am writing to share my deep concern for the direction
in which our country is being taken, and my strong
conviction that this direction is wrong.  It goes against
the letter and the spirit of the Constitution, the Bill of
Rights, the Geneva Convention and international law.

We have not been right with the world.  Our leaders
refuse to put it right.  They will lead us down a path to a
mutually-assured destruction.

I agree with Mikhail Gorbachev who a year ago
expressed his conviction that it is not too late.  There
are many like him speaking out.  We are not alone, and
there is sympathy yet in the world for us.

I believe the country should move forward with
impeachment proceedings against President George
W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales also, should be
added to this list, in my opinion.

All those who are suspected of being complicit should
be brought under formal investigation.

I would point out that Speaker Pelosi is not the law.  The
law does not reside in her or in the position of Speaker.
I do not believe she holds jurisdiction to decree that
impeachment is off the table.  This, in itself, may
constitute obstruction of justice.

It signals either complicity, cowardice, or simply a well-
meaning and decent woman who has yet to
comprehend the full weight of the responsibility, the
heaviness of the burden, upon her and all United States
Representatives, now.

For the sake of the nation and the world it must be taken
up.  People are dying who need not die.  Homes,
families, communities, whole countries - destroyed -
without justification.

Speaker Pelosi,

The American people elected a Democratic majority to
demand justice.  President George W. Bush and Vice
President Dick Cheney must be impeached for:

 Vote-rigging.

The lies told to the American people about Weapons
of Mass Destruction development in Iraq.

Illegal war of aggression against Iraq, a country which
posed no threat to the U.S.

Deaths of over 1,000,000 Iraqis and nearly 4,000 U.
S. troops since 2003.

Exploiting 9/11 for political and/or financial gain.
Lying to the American people about the reasons
behind 9/11.

Canceling Iraq's oil contracts with foreign companies
and giving them to American corporations and
restructuring Iraq's oil industry to their specification, in
violation of the Hague and Geneva Conventions.

Authorizing the use of torture in violation of the
Geneva Convention, U.S. Law, and against the advice
of the uniformed military.

Participating in the overthrow of the democratically-
elected government of Haiti, and attempting to do so in
Venezuela.

Promoting the preemptive use of nuclear weapons.

Acts of aggression against the sovereign nation of
Iran.

 Warrantless wiretapping of American citizens.

Issuing signing statements that contradict and
circumvent the will of Congress.

Denying Americans and others habeas corpus rights

In sum:

Impeach, and restore America's honor as well as America's and the world's security equilibrium.

Free the Palestinians from the tyranny of Israel.  This will
secure Israel's place in the world.  (The Iraq war was partly a
product of Israel's fears of retaliation for the continued brutal
and illegal occupation and ethnic cleansing of the
Palestinians.)

Abolish preemptive philosophy from the National Security
Strategy.  Hold to the universal view where all States are
considered to have the same inalienable rights as ourselves.

Steer the ship of state toward the development of alternative
energy devices - wind, water, co generation, and heat
pumps.  This would surely put the industrial complex to better
(and extraordinarily profitable) use.

I hear there is enough off-peak electricity to fuel 80% of cars
if they went electric.  But this must not be done by giving coal
companies the continued right to level our mountains and
strip the land bare of all life.

I am most sincerely and respectfully yours.

Signed, February 19, 2008.

Here are two popular petitions for
impeachment.

1.  Almost 232,413 signatures:
John
Congressman John Wexler's Call for Cheney
Impeachment hearings.

"The charges are too serious to ignore. There
is credible evidence that the Vice President
abused the power of his office, and not only
brought us into an unnecessary war but
violated the civil liberties and privacy of
American citizens. It is the constitutional duty of
Congress to hold impeachment hearings."

2.   Almost a million signatures and counting to
impeach Bush, as of today, February 21, 2008!
